The Mayfair
The Mayfair is a modern, luxury, purpose built home located in the leafy suburbs of Hounslow in Greater London providing the highest standards of care and support in a very homely and comfortable environment.
The Mayfair caters for people of both sexes with Physical or Mental needs, some of whom have a dual diagnosis.
We strongly believe in Individuals being supported and involved in their care and care and subsequently their own recovery.Â
Our approach views care Holistically rather than simply addressing individual problems with a focus on Recovery.
Astoria Healthcare models its Recovery and Supporting strategy around the WELLNESS RECOVERY ACTION PLAN (WRAP) which is a self management and recovery system developed with a group of people who had Mental Health difficulties and were struggling to incorporate wellness tools and strategies into their lives.
Our excellent team of Mental Health Nurses and Care professionals have the knowledge and the skills to provide extensive support for the people who live with us and to the support staff. Our wonderful team encourage, support and guide each individual to express choice and to set and accomplish personal goals. We believe that the relaxing environment, the attitude of all support staff and the quality of support received go a long way towards promoting people’s successful outcomes.
Each person is treated as an individual and is supported with this in mind, so some people may prefer to do more fun activities such as swimming, bowling, eating out, whatever the need we can cater for it with the care and safety of our residents always upmost priority.
What is WRAPÂ
“WRAP is a tool that can aid an individual’s recovery and its underpinning principles support the recovery approach. WRAP is a way of monitoring wellness, times of being less well and times when experiences are uncomfortable and distressing. It also includes details of how an individual would like others to support them at these different times.â€
WRAP has 5 key principles:
- Hope:Â people who experience mental health difficulties get well, stay well and go on to meet their life dreams and goals.
- Personal responsibility:Â it’s up to you, with the assistance of others, to take action and do what needs to be done to keep yourself well.
- Education:Â learning all you can about what you are experiencing so you can make good decisions about all aspects of you life.
- Self advocacy:Â effectively reaching out to others so that you can get what it is that you need, want and deserve to support your wellness and recovery.
- Support:Â while working toward your wellness is up to you, receiving support from others, and giving support to others, will help you feel better and enhance the quality of your life.
